This Roady prototype has two firsts for us...

1) our first brass back barrel to go along with our standard brass grip. Brass does develop a patina over time or it can be periodically polished to keep it shiny.

2) our first Ultem cap... and in a new grooved style. Ultem (polyetherimide) is a semi-transparent high strength engineering grade plastic. It has a warm amber tone that produces a unique look paired with the brass.

  • Cap: Ultem plastic cap, lightly sandblasted
  • Cap End: Black anodized Aluminum with Spoke Logo
  • Clip: Black Stainless Steel
  • Grip: Brass (lead free)
  • Barrel: Brass (lead free)
  • Barrel End Plug: Black Stainless Steel

Spoke Roady is compatible with any 'Parker style' refill and ships with a premium Uni Jetstream SXR-600-07 Black 0.7mm refill.

  • Length, Pen Capped: 4.42 in. / 112mm
  • Length, Pen Posted: 4.74 in. / 120mm
  • Length, Pen Only: 3.99 in. / 101mm
  • Weight: 1.2oz./ 34g

It's a prototype, what does that mean?

We make small quantities of certain parts and designs to try out. Sometimes we then make more and offer them as our 'standard' products, other times after review make changes and adjustments. Sometimes we make the prototypes and that's it. Making small quantities is expensive and Ultem is an expensive material so our pricing reflects that.

We usually keep the cosmetics of prototypes towards the 'raw' side. For these parts, we've mostly kept them 'as machined'. The Ultem cap is lightly sandblasted. The Cap plug was epoxied to the cap. Due to the transparent nature of the cap, there are degrees of flow and bubbling of the epoxy visible at the top of the cap where the plug is attached. Through extended use these pens will likely take on some degree of wear marks and patina.

Will there be more?

We like how the brass back barrel and the Ultem groove style cap geometry turned out. We made an initial 25 of the Ultem caps. 5 of the 25 caps are offered on this Roady prototype version. We'll possibly make more of this general style in the future, but will likely make some modifications. Remember, it's a prototype:)
