Roady v3 Series: Which One Is for Me?

Roady v3 Series: Which One Is for Me?

Three Roadys. A whole bunch of colors. Knurls, grooves, titanium, and a very real possibility of opening seventeen browser tabs while you decide.

We can help with the model part. The color part? You're on your own. 🙂

The Roady v3 family includes Roady, Roady SL, and Roady XL. They share the same Spoke personality, but each takes a slightly different approach to carrying and writing. Choosing yours comes down to two things: how much pen you want in your pocket and which refill you want on the page.

Meet the family

Roady: The pocket pen

You like a compact pen. You want something that comes along for errands, travel, and those moments when someone says, “Does anybody have a pen?” Your moment has arrived.

Roady is the most compact of the three when posted, with a shorter titanium grip and a Parker-style refill. At 4.09 inches capped and 4.39 inches with the cap on the back, it keeps the pocket-pen feeling going when it's time to write.

It ships with a Schmidt EasyFlow 9000M, ready for lists, notes, signatures, and the occasional excellent idea.

Your Roady if: You enjoy a shorter pen in hand and want a compact everyday companion.

Roady SL: The little shape-shifter

SL stands for Short/Long, and this is where things get interesting.

Capped, it's exactly the same length as Roady. Post the cap—attach it to the back for writing—and it becomes the same length as Roady XL. Pocket-sized carry, more length in hand. Pretty neat, right?

SL pairs a longer titanium grip with a Parker-style refill and ships with the same Schmidt EasyFlow 9000M as Roady.

The important distinction: SL gives you extra writing length, while keeping the compact refill format. It's the choice for someone who likes the idea of a pocket pen but prefers a longer pen once the notebook comes out.

Your Roady if: You want compact carry and a longer posted writing experience.

Roady XL: For the gel enthusiasts

You have a favorite gel refill. Possibly a favorite tip size. Possibly opinions about ink that your family has heard more than once.

We get it.

Roady XL makes room for many full-size gel refills from Pentel and Uni, and ships with a black Pentel EnerGel. Its internal spring holds the refill forward, accommodating compatible refills without trimming.

XL is longer when capped, at 4.77 inches, and measures 5.02 inches posted. It has a longer titanium grip and also offers the longest uncapped pen body in the family—useful if you prefer writing with the cap set aside.

Your Roady if: Your favorite compatible full-size gel refill gets a vote in the decision.

What makes all three v3?

Every model has a cap that attaches magnetically over the tip and on the back. Uncap, post, write. The new grooved stainless steel bands give v3 its distinctive look, and the replaceable titanium clip adds another practical detail.

All three also have a 10 mm titanium grip. We like the weight titanium brings to the front of the pen, and we love the way it takes a knurl.

Now make it your kind of Roady

Once you've picked your model, choose your barrel set and grip.

Anodized aluminum cap and barrel bring color and a lighter overall weight. Titanium cap and barrel add a little heft and that unmistakable metal look.

For the grip, peak knurling gives you a pronounced texture, while milli-grooves offer a different feel and a clean, lined look. Both come in shiny, sandblasted, and PVD black titanium finishes. Black or silver accents put another spin on the combination.

This is the part where “I'll just take a quick look” can become a whole activity. We support your research.

So, which one is for you?

  • “I like my pocket pen to feel like a pocket pen.” Go Roady.
  • “Small in my pocket, longer in my hand.” Go SL.
  • “I'm here for the gel refill.” Go XL.

Pick your size. Pick your texture. Find the combination that makes you want to write something. Big ideas. Little doodles. Grocery lists. Your Roady is ready.
